SACS incumbents Gilpin, Blum hold on to board seats

In NACS, Donald Duff was ousted by Kent Somers.

Two longtime incumbents held onto their board seats for Southwest Allen County Schools during Tuesday’s elections.

Board president Mark Gilpin and John Blum, the board’s secretary, have each served since 2000. Each also earned convincing victories on Tuesday, with Gilpin defeating challenger Jason M. Kuchmay in District 2, 10,887 votes to 4,811. All precincts had reported, according to the Allen County Election Board.

In District 1, Blum tallied 10,562 votes in defeating Joseph A. Greco, who finished with 5,316 votes. In District 3, which is an at-large seat, Meagan Milne tallied 8,517 votes to defeat Sherry Chapman, who totaled 7,746 votes.

In Northwest Allen County Schools, Kent Somers ousted incumbent Donald Duff in District 1. Somers finished with 6,579 votes to Duff’s 5,791.

Paul E. Sloffer was uncontested in District 2, tallying 11,578 votes.
